Emperor Penguin diorama
Description: Two exhibit preparators, John Moyer and John LaBonte installing penguin specimens in the Emperor Penguin diorama. One of the penguins is wrapped in newspaper. Mounted by Staff Taxidermist John W. Moyer, on left, and John LaBonte, on the right. Staff Taxidermist Leon L. Walters cast and reproduced bills and feet in cellulose-acetate, which gives most realistically appearance and texture of life. Staff Artist Charles A. Corwin and Mr. Arthur G. Rueckert painted the panoramic background of the great Ross ice shelf. Hand-colored glass lantern slide.
