"This [figure] stood on a post close to and in front of the King's house. It was collected by Fr. Felix Normal Roth in 1897 when medical officer to the expedition to Benin City and remained on clearing up after the forces had left. Acquired from his widow Mrs. Winifred N-R. through H. Ling Roth [in] whose 'Great Benin' 1903, [see] p.201, fig. 210 for a plate of this specimen." Acquired by Fuller 17 May 1923. Deposited on loan at British Museum.
