Carl Akeley’s Fighting African Elephants on display inside Stanley Field Hall. These animals, collected and mounted by noted taxidermist Carl Akeley, were first exhibited in the central rotunda of the Field Museum’s former home in Jackson Park. In 1920 both elephants were transported by train to the new Field Museum building and installed in Stanley Field Hall, where they remain to this day.
